Middle Eastern carrier Emirates is to offset capacity disruption caused by Dubai runway closure by deploying Airbus A380s on its Glasgow route.

The airline serves Glasgow twice-daily with Boeing 777-300ERs.

But it states that the closure of Dubai’s southern runway 12R/30L will disrupt the service, owing to capacity limitations.

Emirates says it will counter the impact by offering a daily service instead with 489-seat A380s. This will commence on 16 April next year and run to 31 May, following which the twice-daily 777 operation will be restored.
