Chinese lessor CALC is intending to order 36 baseline Airbus A320-family jets.

These will include eight A321s. No engine selection has been made.

Airbus says the deal, announced today at the Farnborough air show, is currently the subject of a memorandum of understanding.

The twinjets will be offered with an option to fit sharklet wing-tips.

Some of the aircraft will be manufactured at Airbus's Chinese plant in Tianjin.

CALC has five A320-family aircraft and an A330 among its portfolio. It says the new deal will help "achieve our ambition to become a major aircraft lessor in the region".
