As the Lockheed Martin C-130J takes its place on the static line at the show, the company has announced the maiden flight of the first C-130J to be ordered under the US Foreign Military Sale programme. This stretched-fuselage Super Hercules for the Royal Norwegian Air Force took to the air last week at Lockheed Martin’s Marietta, Georgia, factory.

The first of four C-130Js that will be delivered to Norway by 2010, the aircraft will replace the service’s existing C-130Hs, which have been operational for almost four decades. The new aircraft will enable Norway to meet its national airlift mission requirements as well as those in support of international organisations such as the UN and NATO.
