US regional carrier Republic Airline has signed a letter intent for a firm order of 100 more Embraer 175s and purchase rights on an additional 100.

Parent company Republic Airways Holdings and Embraer announced the deal today at the Farnborough air show. Embraer chief commercial officer Arjan Meijer says the airline has the ability to convert the aircraft to the E175-E2 if major US airlines attain scope clause relief in their pilot contracts.

Flight Fleets Analyzer shows Republic Airline already operates 129 E175, plus 59 E170s.

The carrier operates regional services for the US majors.

An earlier version suggested that Republic had placed a firm order rather than signing a letter of intent for a firm order. This has been corrected
