The Finnish air force is to review its procedures for conducting arrested landing training using the Boeing F-18C/D Hornet. The move follows the recommendations of a mishap investigation board report into an October 2005 accident, during which an F-18C pilot missed an arresting cable and overshot the runway, resulting in aircraft damage totalling €200,000 ($240,000). The report says the incident was caused by an “inadequacy of arrested landing techniques and related instructions and limited experience in arrested landings in the air force”.
