Lithuanian MRO provider FL Technics has launched a business jet maintenance operation on its Vilnius site and plans to build a new hangar in eastern Europe as it looks to expand the business.

Parent company Avia Solutions has established a new firm, FL Technics Jets, to support Hawker Beechcraft's 700/750/800/800XP/850XP/900XP models in its existing Vilnius facility. This will grow to include the Bombardier Challenger 600 and Embraer Legacy 450/500/600 aircraft over the next three years.

Available space allows two business jets to be worked on at the same time, but if the maintenance workload for commercial aircraft allows some spare capacity, this could rise to as many as six, says the company.

FL Technics is also looking elsewhere in eastern Europe to grow: the company is considering establishing a new hangar at locations in Moldava, Poland, at one of Moscow's airports or further expansion in Vilnius, it says.

FL Technics last year revealed a $25 million growth programme over the next five years. This included plans to expand the Vilnius facility from 3,400m² (36,600ft²) to 21,500m², giving the company enough space to service up to 12 commercial aircraft simultaneously, and to establish more line maintenance stations in Europe.
