Southwest Airlines, Sikorsky, and blog JetWhine have triumphed at the inaugural Flightglobal Webbies which celebrate and acknowledge the best and brightest aviation websites and online activities.

There were eight categories including Online Innovation, Best Airline Website, Best Aerospace Manufacturer Website, Best Aviation Related Blog, Best Airshow Website, Best Online Marketing Campaign and Best New Aviation Website.

It was the interface of Southwest Airlines' website which "makes booking, changing and cancelling flights simple" among other things, that helped it win the Best Airline Website category.

Judges described the site as: "Just the best. Enjoyable user interface. Helpful for regular Southwest fliers. Conveys a good level of engagement with the brand and the carrier. The blog is cool too."

Winner in the Aerospace Manufacturer category, Sikorsky's site was commended as "a great product site that has gone one step further. Lots of visual gee-whizzery and interactivity staying just on the side of fun and informative rather than gimmicky. Superb home page. Lots of information and options displayed through an effective design. Interactive product tours are good, as is the use of video and audio."

From established industry leaders to striving newcomers, the eight Flight Webbies categories recognise the entire online aviation community and their favourite websites.
