Aircraft lessor GECAS had firmed an order for 10 Boeing 777-300ERs as part of its strategy to broaden its long-haul offerings.

At year end 2010 57% of the GECAS fleet was comprised of narrowbodies and 21% of widebodies. GECAS has more than 1,525 owned aircraft and roughly 300 managed jets.

With the firming of the latest 777 order, GECAS has now ordered 53 777s, including 41 777-300ERs.

"This order adds to our existing portfolio of 777 aircraft," says Norman Liu, GECAS president and CEO. "A key part of our strategy is to expand our long-haul product offerings to satisfy customer demand."
