TRAINING PARACHUTE

Germany's Grob Aircraft has joined forces with emergency aircraft parachute manufacturer BRS Aerospace to design a ballistic parachute aircraft recovery system for its family of training aircraft.


CHINESE APPROVAL

Flight Design's two-seat CT piston single has become the first light sport aircraft to clinch design and production approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The validation opens up the lucrative Chinese general aviation market to Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany-based Flight Design for the first time.


KNOWN ICING

Cirrus has received flight into known icing protection approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency for its piston single light aircraft family. In addition to the basic ice protection already offered for the SR22 FIKI are a second 15-litre (4USgal) tank of TKS fluid in the aircraft's right wing, a new maximum flow rate option, longer leading-edge cuffs chord-wise, with more holes, a cuff for the vertical stabiliser, two nozzles for keeping the windshield clean, a backup pump and a stall detection system.


OFFSHORE DELIVERY

Eurocopter has delivered the first two of 10 EC155 B1 Dauphin helicopters to Chinese operator Citic Offshore Helicopter. The remaining eight muli-role, twin-engine aircraft are earmarked for delivery between 2010 to 2013. Shenzhen-based COHC - the largest commercial operator in China - has a fleet of 21 Eurocopter types consisting mainly of Super Puma and Dauphin models. Eurocopter says it has secured more than 40% of the Chinese civil helicopter market with 350 types in operation throughout the country. Meanwhile, China's maritime safety administration has taken delivery of two AgustaWestland A109 Grand helicopters. The light twin-engine aircraft will be used to monitor and tackle pollution within the waters of Guangdong province in southern China.
