Lufthansa's low-cost subsidiary Germanwings will from 31 March add two new routes from Dusseldorf to the UK for its summer schedule.

The carrier will conduct daily flights to Glasgow and once-weekly services to Cardiff from the German city.

However its mainline sister airline will halt its flights between Manchester and Berlin for the summer due to insufficient business traveller numbers.

Nonetheless the group says that Britain remains one of its most important European markets.
