International scheduled flights will begin at Tokyo's Haneda Airport this weekend, following the opening of a fourth runway at the airport last week.

Haneda, which has offered only regular charter international flights until now, will serve scheduled flights from 31 October.

On 21 October, the airport's fourth runway and new international passenger terminal began operations.

Haneda's website shows that All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL) will operate the first flights out of Haneda on 31 October.

ANA's flight to Los Angeles and JAL's flight to San Francisco are both scheduled to depart at 00:05hr.

Besides the two Japanese airlines, other Asian carriers including Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways International and AirAsia X have also won rights to begin flights to Haneda.
