Hawker Pacific has sold seven Diamond aircraft to the University of New South Wales in a deal worth almost $3 million.

Hawker Pacific, which is the Diamond distributor for Australia and New Zealand, will supply six new Diamond DA40 single-engined aircraft and one DA42L360 twin to the university's aviation department, UNSW Aviation, for its Sydney Bankstown airport-based flight-training operation.

Deliveries are scheduled to UNSW Aviation this quarter, with Hawker Pacific also responsible for maintaining the aircraft for the next five years.

"These aeroplanes will provide our students with one of the world's best training environments, consistent with our objective of being the leading aviation university in the Australasian region," says Brian Horton, director of flight operations at UNSW Aviation.

The sale follows a two-month roadshow of Diamond aircraft conducted by Hawker Pacific around Australia late in 2009.
