Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is enhancing the capabilities of its Heron TP unmanned air vehicle by integrating the high-definition M-19HD electro-optical/infrared payload developed and produced by its Tamam division.

Successful flight tests of the M-19HD have already been performed using manned platforms as well as unmanned systems including the company's Heron 1 UAV. The sensor is now being offered to various customers, IAI says.

Up to seven observation and targeting sensors can be incorporated with the Tamam payload, which IAI says provide operators with the ability to conduct continuous surveillance by day and night, and in all weather conditions. Combined with image stabilisation and processing techniques, it delivers "outstanding acquisition ranges", the company adds, with an additional feature being a multi-mode automatic video tracker.
