Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo has launched its first international flight to Dubai from New Delhi.

The flight, which carried 162 passengers, departed from New Delhi eight minutes earlier than its scheduled departure time and landed in Dubai nine minutes before scheduled arrival time.

"We are indeed very excited about our new journey as a part of our expansion programme. We wish to thank our customers for their enduring trust and support.

"Dubai is a key market for us and holds a lot of promise. We hope to provide the much needed avenue for countless Indians to explore wider horizons and at the same time open up the doors to more and more overseas travellers to experience India," said IndiGo's President, Aditya Ghosh.

IndiGo will launch services to Oman, Thailand and Singapore using Airbus A320s as part of its international expansion plans.
