B/E Aerospace is showing off Lufthansa's newest business class seat for the first time at the show. The highly anticipated seat was jointly developed by Lufthansa, B/E Aerospace and design consultancy PearsonLloyd.

It is based on the B/E Aerospace Diamond seating platform, and offers a wide armchair that converts into different cradle positions, before reaching a 1.98m bed. It is also equipped with a 15in TV screen.

The new business class seat will be installed on Lufthansa's new-build Airbus A330 and Boeing 747-8 aircraft and retrofitted to its current fleet of A330 and A340 aircraft. It is also planned for installation on the German flag-carrier's A380 and 747-400 aircraft. Deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2012.

As part of the project, Lufthansa selected Lantal's (stand 6G50) Pneumatic Comfort System (PCS). Lantal's lightweight, adaptive air-filled cushions replace conventional foams.

Lufthansa-owned Swiss International Air Lines has used PCS-equipped business and first class seats on its Airbus A330/A340 fleet for almost three years.
