A pair of Israeli air force pilots have spent several days in military prison following an air display mishap with two Lockheed Martin C-130Js.

The two "Samson" turboprops had taken part in a formation flight as part of the country's independence day celebrations on 2 May.

However, post-display inspections by ground crew revealed evidence that the wings of the two aircraft had come into contact.

The aircraft were withdrawn from service and an investigation launched; the captains of both C-130Js were subsequently jailed for a short period and other crew members were grounded.
