Just as JetBlue today holds a ceremony at its new terminal five at John F Kennedy International Airport, its current terminal was evacuated early this morning after the discovery of a suspicious package.

The carrier's terminal re-opened at approximately 8:15 eastern time. A spokeswoman for the carrier says the package contained two suspicious items that resembled grenades, but were in fact toy paperweights.

JetBlue's terminal evacuation occurs today as it holds a ceremony to celebrate the completion of its new terminal five with a press conference featuring carrier management, partners in the project's development and elected officials. Terminal five officially become operational next month.
