Jetstar Asia plans to begin Singapore-Hangzhou services in mid-March.
The carrier will begin with a thrice-weekly service on 22 March and increase that to four times weekly by 27 March. It will operate an Airbus A320 on the route.
Hangzhou will become Jetstar's seventh destination in the Greater China region, and its fourth service to the area over the last year. The carrier is also marketing it as an alternative gateway to China's financial capital Shanghai, which is 180km away but connected to Hangzhou by a high-speed train that takes 45 minutes point-to-point.
From Singapore's Changi Airport, Jetstar serves Haikou, Shantou and Guilin in mainland China. It also has flights to Hong Kong, Taipei and Macau.
The airline has been building Singapore up as a hub, and has started direct Singapore-Melbourne long-haul services and will offer a Singapore-Auckland services from 17 March. Additional services to China will complement these flights, says the carrier.
