Airlines flying into Cochin International airport during the day will have to adjust their schedules for a four-month period from November to March to accommodate runway resurfacing work.

The airport will close from 10:00 to 18:00 daily between 20 November and 28 March to allow its sole 3,600m long runway to be progressively resurfaced.

Airlines with flights during those hours will have to reschedule their flights to operate during night hours.

Cirium schedules data shows that there are 71 scheduled arrivals and departures during the closure period, which are predominately domestic services. Saudia and SriLankan Airlines, however, will have their respective services to Jeddah and Colombo affected.

The airport will also conduct a lighting upgrade that will take it to Category III status, allowing for more efficient operations during low visibility conditions.
