Kunming Airlines has inked an agreement for the purchase of 10 Boeing 737s, in a deal worth $897 million at list prices.

The commitment, which is subject to the approval of the Chinese government, is for six 737 Max and four of the current generation 737-700 aircraft.

The delivery schedule of the aircraft was not disclosed.

“This commitment is a major step in our growth strategy,” says Kunming Airlines chief executive Xuan Yuen.

“The 737 is the backbone of our fleet and will continue to be in the future. These airplanes will further expand and improve our route network, contributing to our vision to build Yunnan’s gateway airport to be the forefront of the province’s economic development.”

Kunming Airlines is based at Changshui International airport in Yunnan province. The carrier operates a fleet of 10 737-700s and five 737-800s.
