Kuwait Airways is planning to set up an arm to operate services in the Gulf feeding passengers to the airline's long-haul routes using a small fleet of regional aircraft.
A feasibility study on the project, which will be a 51:49 joint venture between Kuwait Airways and a group of local private investors, should be completed early next year. The airline told the Middle East Economic Digest the new carrier would acquire three 80- to 100- seat aircraft for intra-Gulf routes.
In late June the Kuwaiti government decided to adopt an open-skies policy which will end Kuwait Airways' monopoly.
