Mobile satellite services operator Inmarsat has reported to the London Stock Exchange that U.S. broadband provider LightSquared failed to make a scheduled $56.25 million payment in February under a spectrum-sharing agreement. LightSquared is reportedly refusing to pay until certain clarifications over the frequency spectrum’s use have been made. LightSquared is already under pressure, having failed to convince the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to allow it to build its terrestrial repeater network. Their licence was cancelled after tests proved that its signals interfered with GPS signals.
