The US Department of Defense (DoD) has released figures today showing the largest recipients of defence contracts last year.

Lockheed Martin came top of the table with almost $20 billion worth of contracts last year. BAE Systems was the only non-US company in the top ten, with close to $6 billion worth of prime contract awards last year.

In the fiscal year 2005, DoD prime contract awards totalled $269.2 billion, $38.5 billion more than in the same period  a year perviously. According to the new report, the top 10 defence contractors for fiscal 2005 were as follows:
