Portuguese flag-carrier TAP will start serving Togolese capital Lome on 17 July.

Four-times-weekly flights on a route via Ghana's capital Accra will be operated with 165-seat Airbus A320s, says Lisbon-based TAP.

This service will bring to 16 the number of African destinations served by TAP, the Star Alliance carrier indicates.

It expects a "near 20%" increase in its summer passenger numbers to Africa this year.

FlightGlobal schedules data show that two European carriers already serve Lome: Air France from Paris, and Brussels Airlines from the Belgian capital.
