Polish flag carrier LOT has contracted Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) to provide component support for its future Boeing 787 fleet.

The first aircraft of the eight-strong ordered fleet is to be deployed in the airline's network from January, says the MRO company.

The contract covers repairs, spares pool access and logistics for 600 part numbers. A number of spares will be located at LOT's base at Warsaw Chopin airport.

The agreement is AFI KLM E&M's first third-party contract for 787 MRO services. Last year Air France and KLM signed a deal for 50 787-9s, comprising 25 firm orders and 25 options. Deliveries are due to begin to KLM in 2016.
