Lufthansa Technik has reorganised its international maintenance operation under a new wholly-owned Lufthansa Group susbsidiary.

The subsidiary, Lufthansa Technik Maintenance International, is located at Frankfurt Main and is based on the infrastructure of Condor Cargo Technik, which Lufthansa Technik took over in 2003.

LTMI, which employs around 1,000 personnel, will take over the Lufthansa Technik departments formerly responsible for dealing with international carriers.

"We are responding to the wishes of numerous customers outside Lufthansa for an organization that is exclusively dedicated to their needs," says LTMI chief Alexander Heilmann.

He says the new division will offer an "oppportunity for further growth".

LTMI will be responsible for the newly-introduced 'Technical Operations Management', a support process which allows LTMI to take over the maintenance organisation for an entire airline fleet.

It will also take over, in the longer term, line maintenance for all aircraft types supported under Lufthansa Technik's line maintenance division - intially the Boeing 757, 767, MD-11 and Airbus A330/340.
