Martinair has signed a three-year agreement to provide line maintenance and EcoPower engine wash services for Pratt & Whitney (P&W) in Amsterdam.

Under the agreement, Martinair will become a member of P&W's line maintenance network, providing services to the PW4000 engine.

"As the largest PW4000 engine operator in Europe, Martinair is uniquely positioned to provide line maintenance services as part of the Pratt & Whitney network," says Peter van der Horst, VP maintenance and engineering at Martinair.

Since P&W launched its EcoPower engine wash service in 2004, it has completed more than 12,500 washes on 53 engine models for more than 95 customers in 83 locations. The engine wash technology, offered as part of P&W's Global Service Partners (GPS,) reduces fuel burn as much as 1.2%, eliminates an estimated three pounds of carbon dioxide for each pound of fuel saved, decreases engine gas temperature and increases the time an engine can stay on-wing.

GPS is a total service provider for engines made by P&W, International Aero, General Electric, Rolls-Royce and CFM International.

Martinair operates passenger and cargo service to more than 50 international destinations.
