MAS GMR Aero Technic (MGAT) has secured British Airways as its first line maintenance customer.

The maintenance repair and overhaul firm will provide the carrier with line maintenance services at Hyderabad International Airport for its Boeing 787 aircraft.

The firm says its entering into the line maintenance business marks the beginning of its expansion plans aimed at providing comprehensive maintenance support to airlines flying in, out and within India. It also plans to set up line maintenance stations at other Indian airports.

MGAT has certification from India’s director general of civil aviation and the European Aviation Safety Agency to perform maintenance services on Airbus A320 family, ATR 42/72 and Boeing 737 family aircraft. It has performed base maintenance on over 100 of these aircraft.

The firm is a 50:50 joint venture between Malaysian Aerospace Engineering and GMR Hyderabad International Airport.
