Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has signed a seven-year maintenance and spare parts support contract with ATR.

The airline says in a statement today that it has signed seven-year contract, valued at $27 million, for spare parts and maintenance services for the ATR 72-500s it has ordered from the manufacturer.

ATR senior VP customer services, Jean-Pierre Cousserans, says in the statement that the maintenance services are for ATR aircraft components.

Last year Firefly ordered 10 ATR 72-500s and this year MASWings ordered five.

MAS has stated publicly that it plans to handle the light and heavy maintenance on the ATR 72-500s.
