Malaysia Airlines’ Boeing 777-200ER which disappeared over Ukraine during a flight from Amsterdam lost contact at 14:15UTC, according to the airline.

The carrier states that the aircraft was positioned 30km from the waypoint TAMAK.

TAMAK is the waypoint where the air routes L980 and L69 converge. It coincides with the boundary between Dnipropetrovsk airspace in Ukraine and Rostov-on-Don airspace in Russia.

The airline says that the flight involved, MH17, departed Amsterdam at 12:15 local time and was estimated to arrive at Kuala Lumpur at 06:10 on 18 July.

Malaysia Airlines says there were 280 passengers and 15 crew members on board.
