Mitsubishi Aircraft, the company behind the Mitsubishi Regional Jet, has appointed a new chairman.

Vice-chairman Nobuo Toda will succeed Takashi Nishioka, who is retiring, says the company.

Nishioka will step down at the end of the fiscal year ending 31 March, and Toda will assume the position on 1 April, it says.

Toda has been vice-chairman of Mitsubishi Aircraft since April 2009. Prior to that, he was president, says a company spokeswoman.
