Mitsubishi Aircraft and Hong Kong-based ANI Group have cancelled their memorandum of understanding for five MRJ regional jets, say executives.

The unit of the Indonesian maintenance, repair and overhaul firm Aero Nusantara Indonesia inked the MOU with Mitsubishi for five of either the MRJ70 or MRJ90 in June 2011.

Yugo Fukuhara, director of marketing in the sales and marketing department at Mitsubishi Aircraft, does not elaborate beyond saying that the deal was cancelled, at the Regional Airline Association annual conference in Montreal today.

Mitsubishi has firm orders for 165 MRJs and 160 options, with All Nippon Airways (ANA) as the launch customer. First flight is scheduled for the fourth quarter with the first delivery in 2015.
