US-based fractional ownership operator Avantair has become the first customer for Jeppesen's new electronic charting service, eChart Viewer. Senior executives from the two companies signed a service agreement at Jeppesen's stand at the NBAA convention.

Jeppesen's web-based digital charting solution provides online chart access worldwide and includes an auto-update service. The online capability allows pilots to print charts from any computer. The eChart Viewer also offers enhanced Jeppesen Airway Manual text in HTML format and provides IFR and VFR chart viewing and search capabilities.

"We are extremely pleased with the Jeppesen digital charting service that we have instituted at Avantair, especially considering the rapid timeframe that was in place for developing and implementing the service for our jet fleet," said Steven Santo, Avantair founder and chief executive.

Jeppesen says the eChart Viewer is designed to help business aviation operators transition to using digital flight information instead of paper-based charts and documents on the flight deck, which increases the speed and organization of information delivery.
