Nigerian carrier Arik Air has ordered another four Boeing 787-9s and ten 737-800s as well as an additional 777-300ER for its rapidly-expanding fleet.

Arik placed an order earlier this year for three 787-9s along with two 777-300ERs and two 777-200LRs.

The additional 777-300ER had been previously attributed to an unidentified customer on Boeing’s orders and deliveries books.

Lagos-based Arik Air has embarked on an aggressive expansion programme since starting operations only last year. Managing director Mike McTighe says: “This additional order for Boeing jets demonstrates our commitment and a purposeful strategy to establish world-class commercial aviation service in Nigeria.”

Boeing values the agreements for the additional jets at around $1.8 billion at catalogue prices.

No engine selection has been disclosed for any of Arik’s 787s. The 777s are exclusively powered by General Electric GE90 engines.
