BAE Systems chairman Sir Richard Evans is to retire on 1 July, to be replaced by Richard Olver, who is now deputy chief executive of BP. Evans has worked for BAE Systems and its predecessor companies since 1967. Originally due to retire at the age of 60 in 2002, he agreed to stay on after chief executive John Weston resigned in March that year. Olver will join BAE's board as a non-executive director on 17 May, leaving BPwhen he takes over as chairman.
