Pratt & Whitney will begin full engine testing of its PW1000G geared turbofan for the Bombardier CSeries twinjet this summer.

"The first CSeries engine will go to full engine testing in August," says P&W vice-president next generation product family Bob Saia.

Core testing for the new engine has been under way since late last year and Saia says that the full engine test of the lower-thrust PW1000G variant for the Mitsubishi MRJ regional jet will begin in October.

Certification for the PW1000G is expected in 2012, with the CSeries and MRJ due to enter service in late 2013 and early 2014, respectively.
