Panasonic Avionics has selected SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) to assist it in providing in-flight entertainment and communication (IFEC) maintenance services for Singapore Airlines' entire fleet.

Under the 10-year agreement, Panasonic will work in conjunction with SIAEC to provide a "one-stop-shop" solution covering all on-aircraft labour, logistics, spares, repairs, and media loading for SIA, whose fleet is outfitted with Panasonic IFEC.

Panasonic's dedicated 'maintenance services (MS)' team will serve as a central point of communication for daily IFEC maintenance, providing real-time updates on aircraft tail performance, scheduling preventive maintenance actions and detecting any recurring issues, says Panasonic.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

"After thorough exploration of SIAEC's maintenance offering, we found them to have one of the industry's best service organizations and a thorough knowledge of the IFE business," says Panasonic Avionics CEO Paul Margis. "To ensure the best possible passenger experience for our customers, we know we can count on SIAEC to help us maintain our IFE systems and meet our continued growth requirements."

Adds SIAEC chief executive William Tan: "We are delighted to continue our relationship with Panasonic to help customers maintain a premium passenger experience. We are proud Panasonic has chosen SIAEC to provide the best possible care to maintain the high reliability of SIA's cabin system."
