Real live contract signings look like they will be thin on the ground here at Paris, but Atlantic Airways, the national carrier of the Faroe Islands, did its bit yesterday by selecting the CFM56-5B engine to power the Airbus A319 it ordered last year.

The airline is scheduled to take delivery of the aircraft in 2011. The engine order is valued at $14 million list price

At present Atlantic operates a fleet of three BAE Systems Avro RJs and two 146-200s on routes from the Faroe Islands, which are situated half way between Scotland and Iceland in the North Sea, to Denmark, Iceland and the UK.
