TE Connectivity is showcasing its new fibre to the screen (FTTS) fibre-optic backbone and interconnect scheme for in-flight entertainment systems at the Paris air show.

The new system allows "the most efficient installation, which in turn lowers the revenue loss from time out of service", said TE.

TE worked with Lumexis, a developer and manufacturer of in-flight entertainment and communications systems, to develop the fibre-optic technology.

The FTTS system combines ARINC 801 fibre-optic interfaces with a flexible routing approach that allows room for growth, while ensuring long-term affordability through the lower installation and applied costs, added TE.
