Bell has delivered the first Russian-owned 407GX helicopter to its St Petersburg-based distributor, Helidrive.

The light, single-engined aircraft – the latest version of the 17-year-old 407 – will be operated by Helidrive both privately and for commercial charter purposes.

“The Russian market is an essential component of Bell’s international growth strategy,” says Patrick Moulay, the US airframer’s managing director in Europe. “We are focused on providing differentiated products that meet mission needs. The six-seat 407GX continues to prove its value to VIP, corporate and utility operators [worldwide].”

According to Flightglobal’s Ascend Online database, there are 961 Bell 407s in service worldwide, of which 17 are based in Russia. Bell says it has delivered nearly 100 Garmin G1000H-equipped 407GXs.
