The Croatian air force has received its first two of 10 Mil Mi-171Sh utility helicopters from Russia's Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, and displayed the aircraft during its 16th anniversary celebrations at Pleso air base near Zagreb on 12 December.
Worth $65 million and part of a $185 million Russian debt repayment to the Balkan nation, the Mi-171 deal also covers the provision of spare parts and pilot and technician training.

Croatian defence ministry sources say at least four of the aircraft will be equipped for search-and-rescue applications.
