Malaysia Airlines' (MAS) regional subsidiary MASwings has taken delivery of its first ATR 72-600 at a ceremony in Toulouse.

This is the first of nine ATR 72s that MASwings will introduce through to 2017, from an order for 20 ATR 72s and 16 options placed by MAS in December 2012. Firefly, another MAS subsidiary, took delivery of its first ATR 72-600 in early July.

The new aircraft will also enable the carrier to launch new services and increase frequencies in its network across east Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Data from Flightglobal Pro shows that MASwings operates 10 ATR 72-500s and three DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft.
