Delta Air Lines has taken delivery of its first of eight Boeing 777-200LRs, becoming the first US airline to operate the ultra-long-range twinjet.
The carrier will use the new aircraft to expand its international network, with New York Kennedy-Mumbai in line to be one of the early routes for the twinjet.
The -200LRs are understood to be configured with a 276 seat, two-class layout featuring 43 horizontal personal sleeper suites four abreast in business class, and 233 seats in economy, nine abreast.

The airline placed its first order for the General Electric GE90-115B-powered 777-200LR in 2006, when it converted two existing orders for Rolls-Royce Trent 800-powered 777-200ERs to the longer-range variant. It has since added six more -200LR orders. According to Flight's ACAS database, Delta has eight Trent-powered 777-200ERs in service.
