Korean Air has become the latest A380 victim of Airbus's ongoing production line problems, with the confirmation that its first super-jumbo will arrive four to six months late in the second quarter of 2011.

The carrier, which is to be the sixth customer to introduce the type, was scheduled to begin receiving its first of 10 Engine Alliance GP7200-powered A380s in December, but the airline confirms that problems with the Airbus assembly line have forced a delay. Korean Air adds that there is no delay in the delivery of the remaining nine aircraft.

The airframer launched its latest drive to address the A380's ongoing production problems earlier this year, with an initiative to speed up what it conceded was an "over-complex" assembly process through improved quality control and "on-the-spot" engineering support.

Louis Gallois, boss of Airbus parent EADS, admitted in January that the "A380 deliveries ramp-up is still difficult to manage".

Just three A380s were handed over in the first quarter, two of which were deliveries that had slipped from 2009.
