Qantas Airways will roll out a new in-flight entertainment platform on its fleet of Boeing 767 aircraft from the fourth quarter of 2012.

Passengers on board these aircraft will receive in-flight entertainment streamed directly to iPads in every seat, following a successful trial earlier this year, says the Australian flag carrier.

Qantas is partnering with Panasonic to provide over 200 hours of on-demand content via the iPads. The service is free.

The first aircraft with the technology installed is set to be rolled out in the fourth quarter of this year and the technology will largely be available on flights to Perth and on domestic east coast routes.

The carrier operates a fleet of 24 767s.
