Rockwell Collins has achieved UK CAA certification for its new Boeing 737NG full flight simulator (FFS), its first FFS for the airline sector.

The Level D, zero flight time device uses the company's new Core simulation architecture, which features open reusable elements including scalable software adaptable to multiple training devices.

The first of two simulators has been installed at launch customer CTC Aviation Group's Southampton UK training centre. CTC airline clients include British Airways and easyJet.

Rockwell Collins also provides visual components and displays for the simulator market through its Evans & Sutherland and SEOS subsidiaries.

"The flexibility and adaptability of this new system, combined with our superior service and support, will deliver an unprecedented training experience for 737NG flight crews," says Ken Schreder, vice president and general manager of simulation and training solutions for Rockwell Collins.
