Hannover airport is targeting new charter services from the USA and Asia by leveraging on its strong business links and high yield traffic, its director of marketing Arne Beckstroem says.

Speaking during the World Routes conference in Chicago on 22 September, the marketing chief says China is “the main focus” for Hannover and the airport is speaking to “different partners” to secure seasonal charter services.

“Companies such as Volkswagen are the number one driver of demand,” says Beckstroem, adding “We have more than 30% higher average ticket prices than all other airports in Germany - the reason is that we have so many huge companies with international business located within our catchment area”.

Beckstroem says the low-cost market is also “booming at the moment” and the airport was focusing on developing new services without “cannibalising” existing routes.
