Russian carrier Saravia is to lease a pair of Embraer 195s, and become the first E-Jet customer in the country.

Embraer says the Saratov-based airline will use a pair of 114-seat 195s, configured in two classes, on scheduled and charter services.

“Saravia selected the 195 because of its proven ability to operate in wide range of business applications,” says Saravia general director Konstantin Sokolov. "The Embraer 195 is going to keep us competitive.”

The agreement follows certification of the type by the Russian airworthiness authorities last year.

"We see good potential in Russia for aircraft of the capacity that Embraer E-Jets offer,” says the airframer's chief executive, Paulo Cesar Silva.
