An investigation has begun after a Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 747 reportedly suffered an engine fire on landing at Bangladesh’s Dhaka Zia International Airport on 25 March.

Local media reports say the aircraft was operating flight number SBA810 between Saudi Arabia and Dhaka, carrying 326 passengers and crew.

The crew is said to have declared an emergency landing on approach into Dhaka, touching down at around 14:10.

Bangladesh CAA chairman Shakeb Iqbal Khan Majlish is quoted as saying that an engine on the aircraft’s right wing caught fire soon after landing.

Emergency services were deployed to the scene and all of the passengers and crew were safely evacuated.

The CAA is said to have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
