Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder of a Henan Airlines Embraer 190 that crashed in north-eastern China last night.
"The rescuers are still at the site looking for the black box," says an official from Henan Airlines.
The aircraft, registration B-3130, had overshot the runway while landing at Yichun Airport in Heilongjiang province after a flight from Harbin.
It crashed in an area 1.5km away from the airport's runway at 21:36hr, says the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
The aircraft broke up and caught fire as a result of the impact, say news reports.
Forty-two of the 96 people on board the aircraft died in the crash, says the CAAC, adding that the remaining 54 were hospitalised.
Among the 96, 91 were passengers while the remaining five were five crew members.
